Do not leave any food lying uncovered; always make sure to keep it in sealed containers. Do not leave food outside overnight, as this will serve as an invitation to cockroaches. Never abandon utensils unclean over night, make sure to clean them before going to bed. Always keep the place where you place your washed utensils, clean. Keep your house clean and hygienic at all times placing the garbage outside the house. Keep all areas of your house dry at all times and make special efforts to keep your kitchen and dining areas clean at all times.
You can inspect your house of the potential areas were these creatures would be hiding, always remember cockroaches hide just a few feet away from their food source. Most often these are found existing in wood or cardboard. It is essential to seal all these hiding places as soon as possible. Boric acid is an effective chemical which can be used to kill cockroaches in a short time. Add phenyl to water as a powerful disinfectant for swiping the floor. Naphthalene balls should be placed in kitchens and bathrooms as it repels cockroaches. If toxic chemicals like these are applied then care should be taken to keep it out of the reach of pets and children.
